Coping with Exam Stress

·        Plan ahead:  look at the exam schedule and figure out when you have time to study for each exam.  The number one cause of exam anxiety is feeling unprepared – so – prepare!

·        Eat healthy meals and drink plenty of water.  You need fuel – don’t fill up on poor quality fuel.

·        Get some exercise.  Exercise reduces stress, helps your circulation, and works to tire you out so that you will sleep better.

·        Sleep!  Don’t try to ‘pull all-nighters’ because that is counter-productive.  Be kind to your brain and your body and don’t sabotage yourself.

·        Be positive!  Positive self-talk actually works.  If you want to see something really cool about your posture and how it affects your attitude check out Amy Cuddy on Ted Talks: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ks-_Mh1QhMc&safety_mode=true&safe=active

·        Remember to breath.  Even taking four long, slow, even breaths will bring down your heart rate.
